Summary:
Ocean Acidification, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), is an "emerging global problem". About one third of carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels has ended up in ocean; and overtime the amount of acidity has only gone up, it has risen 30%. The ocean reacts like a sponge and when gas emissions are absorbed into seawater, it then changes the acidity of the water. The acidity of the ocean can harm and affect the ocean, such as those creatures who depend on safety. Those creatures who are affected by the carbon emissions in the ocean can have an entire impact in the food chain- and thus ourselves. Humans consume fish, protein, and it globally represents about 6% of peoples' diet. There have been projects which yet have to be proven- in order to help and protect the marine life and fisheries. |

Reflection:
My thoughts on this article are similar to what was being discussed. The reason why I chose this article is because our ocean is an important factor in the lives of humans, without us really realizing it. The ocean should really be our concern, the reason for the acidity level being so high is because of us; we are constantly burning fossil fuels and not caring where the greenhouse gases go to. The answer is the ocean. There has to be solutions to at least help and reduce the level of acidity in our ocean until we are able to find the best solution for getting rid of it all together. We as the one's who live in Earth, have to help and protect our home- because if we don't Earth might soon vanish.
